The S55 turbo engine from the BMW M2C, M3 and M4 F8x uses a water cooled intercooler instead of a 'normal' air cooled intercooler. The stock top mounted intercooler has a tube & fin core with clamped plastic end tanks. This design has its drawbacks as it is prone to cracking and coolant entering the engine or boost leaking out of the tank seals.
In this system, the coolant has its own separate cooling circuit, which consists of two parallel coolers and a pump. The larger of these two parallel coolers is positioned at the front in the middle cooling package, the second smaller one is located in front of the right wheel arch.
These vehicles are equipped with plastic intercooler pipes on both the hot and cold sides. These pipes are a weak link on any tuned car, or in some cases even a stock tune. The OE plastic pipes often break and leave you with a boost leak.
We designed upgrades for all of these parts through 3D scanning and 3D modeling in the scanned environment. We did CFD simulations on most of the parts and lots of testing to make sure we deliver the best performance upgrade!
You can choose between three different options for this product.

Our performance intercooler helps your engine to achieve more power by reducing both intake air temperature and pressure drop! It is a bar and plate unit with 3D freeform designed end tanks that are TIG welded to the core. It has 85% larger core volume than the stock intercooler and outperforms the stock unit in both airflow and cooling efficiency. 16% better flow and 9°C lower IAT, so with both better flow and lower IAT this is a real upgrade!
Our intercooler circuit coolers lower the water temperature in the intercooler system circuit. This equates to lower intake air temperature, which results in both more power and more consistent performance. We achieve this through increased cooling surface area, increased core thickness and well assembled cores made of multi-channel tubes!
Our intercooler piping, both the turbo to intercooler and the intercooler to throttle body, is designed to increase durability while improving airflow. It's not easy to improve both reliability and airflow as the stock piping flows well. With our software flow simulation and physical flow testing capabilities, we are confident of improvements, which is more than most suppliers of this type of piping can say!
